Tommee Tippee Electric breast pump problems

Hello!

Just wondered if my breast pump is faulty or whether perhaps in my sleep deprived state I'm doing something wrong?

About half the times I use my Tommee Tippee electric breast pump just as my milk really gets flowing some of the milk bypasses and goes up the air tube to the pump rather than into the bottle. Am I doing something wrong? does this happen to anyone else? Its getting really irritating having to stop expressing half way through and try and clean and dry the air tube before carrying on, then I get annoyed at the pump and my let-down reflex stops.

Any advice anyone?

I had exactly the same problem with my TT electric pump and the next day the suction stopped working altogether. Called the customer service line and did the things they suggested but it still didn't work properly. They told me they would give me a full refund if I had the receipt (the lady didn't sound surprised about the problem which made me wonder if it happens a lot). I no longer had the receipt but took it back to Boots and they gave me a full refund anyway. I replaced it with the Medela Swing instead and it has been great - much quieter, more effective and easier to clean and assemble.

ditto what lovingpickles said - I just wish I'd bought my swing from the start!

Thank you for your advice. I've emailled Tommee Tippee who provided some advice that didn't help much and said to return it if it still doesn't work. I've ordered a medela swing to replace it.

Thank you!

everyone I know with this pump (including me) has had this problem and most have either had it replaced or got a refund. Seriously I must know 15 people who've had this problem - it's crap.

Annoyingly when it happened to me when DS was about 2 weeks old I got a replacement from TT (not knowing that it was a common problem) rather than a refund. I massively regret that as if I'd got a replacement I'd have bought a Medela Swing and from everything I've heard they are much much much better. I can't justify the expense now but will definitely be getting one if/when DC2 comes along.
