Really painful nipple

My left nipple is really painful

DD is nearly 25 weeks and been EBF

apart from a dodgy latch during the first few days I have not had a single issue

not sure if DD has chomped it (she has 2 teeth coming through but the pain isn't where she could have bitten IYSWIM) but it is red - was a bit scabby and bleeding but it is very, very tender

boob is not painful at all

any ideas?

could it be thrush ?

rubyslippers · 23/03/2010 09:25

noooooooooo .... i hope not

just been to the docs about DD's green poo and didn't mention nipple issues

I am going to have to go back aren't i?!

Thrush is usually both sides...
Maybe worth going back to basics with positioning and attachment? Teeth - and general growth - can mean that positions we have been using for months need a bit of adjustment.

Ruby how did you get on ?

rubyslippers · 25/03/2010 08:44

thanks for asking Fidelma - the pain went - i think it was more a trauma from DD's chomping thank anything else

i have also changed her position slightly - thanks for that idea bearlover

thank goodness it wasn't thrush
