Cow & Gate follow-on milk...

Can someone please explain to me the point of follow-on milk.

The reason why I ask is because after a year they can have cows milk and up until then they are either bottle / breast fed. After a year, presumably they will also be on a mixed (full) diet, getting plenty of iron, B vits and all the other essential micronutrients FROM THEIR DIET (which cow & gate seem to forget in their advert when they advertise their milk as having more iron than 2 pints of cows milk).

So why would a child need Cow & Gate follow-on milk?

As you can tell I hate the advert and I am perplexed as to why children may need it.

you have answered your own question!

you don't need follow on milk!!!! Its just a way to sell more product.

Hate the ad too.

the follow on milk.is incredibly sweet its horrible.

After 12m its better to go to cows milk and offer a varied diet. if you want to supplement with a suitable toddler multi-vitamin drops or suspension.

Follow on is for 6 months onwards. As far as I can tell it has more of the vitamins etc in a higher concentration, so those babies who drink a lot less milk because they're eating more, may use it. I still use the Stage 1 with my son as he drinks as much as ever.

I am pleased I am not the only one who hates the advert. I wish the advert would just go away.

To fill the pockets of the fat cat bastards who are running the poisonous company.

It's not necessary at all, but I would guess that a lot of people will look at the options, and think "I could feed my child cow's milk, which is good for them and has calcium etc, or I could feed them this milk which in addition to calcium it contains vitamins X, Y, and Z" and come to the conclusion that the "growing up milk" is better because it has more vitamins in.

I take it you dislike Cow&Gate generally CPP.

Not cow&gate specifically, just formula companies in general, profiting from intimidating and undermining women as mothers.

Follow-on milk is produced by the manufacturers because they cannot legally advertise formula milk. By adding unnecessary ingredients to it, they can then call it follow-on milk and circumvent the advertising laws. That's it. Full stop.
