How often do you B'feed your 7 month old?

Growth spurts and illness aside how often should a 7 mo old drink from the breast? DD refuses bottle so I'm still breastfeeding along with plenty of solids. Today I was away from her for 6 or 7 hours and she was on solids happily during that time. It was great for me because I got a break but I wonder if she's getting enough? She will not drink formula milk so if I do leave her, she's not getting anything except solids.

You could use a doidy mug/ cup thing to get her to sip fluids from whilst away? Or get her to sip some off a spoon?

It took me at least 8 weeks with offering a tommee tippee cup everyday with water in for both of my kids to finally actually "like" drinking from them.

You can't drop any breast feeds, until they can take fluids another way IMO.

My aim was to get both of mine by a year old drinking milk with breakfast and dinner in a sucky cup and maybe still a feed at bedtime but that would be it.

I have achieved it but it takes time and patience and persistence.

But lots and lots of mummy's are happy feeding whenever for however long they like, with their babies. So you can ditch my advice if you like

7 months is still young though, they change so much between 7 months and 12 months, have a read of this website: kellymom it is full of great advice on weaning and breastfeeds. You've probably heard it mentioned before on mumsnet. It's very helpful.

Mine is having 4-5 feeds a day and doesn't really drink much water, but I keep offering it with meals. I'm planning to keep at least 4 feeds until 9 months because they should be having at least 500ml of milk a day at the moment apparenlty. Can't really get my DD to feed any more than this, she's just not interested but she has formula on her breakfast and yogurt too so hopefully she's getting enough.

thanks tea and apple...will try the sucky cup/spoon trick tea and wasn't planning on dropping any feeds as such, it just seems that things are naturally slowing down on the drinking frequency front and I was surprised to notice the other day that DD went some 6 hours without a feed. Is this normal? Apple do you mean 4-5 feeds in a 24 hour period? I co-sleep with DD so she gets a couple at night still. Perhaps 3 good drinks during the day is enough?

Yes, 4-5 in 24 hours. She doesn't wake up in the night very often so it's something like 7am, 11am, 3:30pm and 6:30pm and sometimes an extra one. If she's feeding at night then I'm sure she'll get enough milk but not sure if 6 hours without any water either is a bit long?

Hi my 7 month old DD has 4 bf a day, but sleeps through most nights so no night feeds for us. She takes water from a sippy cup with meals and I use expressed BM on cereal etc.
She tends to feed 7am, 1130am, 4pm and 8pm.
She also has yoghurt most days so am happy with what she's getting. Once we started weaning she dropped a feed herself so we've been doing this for the last 6 weeks or so.
