Nursery and Breastfeeding - Tips please

My baby will be going to nursery at 6 months of age for 1 full day and one half day.

Currently he is exclusively breastfed. One of the days he will be in nursery from 8 am to 6 pm.

The other day will only be for 4 hours (so I can manage this with a feed before and after nursery).

What do I do for the day he is away from me - do I express and make sure I have enough feeds for that one day?

Any tips welcome - I will have to go back to work full time at the 12 month mark, so I am starting nursery gradually.

The baby has not started on any solids yet and have no idea how that will go and how that will impact feeding.

Is there anything I should do to prepare in advance?

Thanks

My DS was 10 months when he started nursery, so not sure how much help I will be. Anyway, I sent in expressed milk but he hardly had any of it! He used to have about 2 or 3 ozs all day. He had water in a cup and was eating by then. He used to feed a lot before we went and once we got home (and during the night!) instead. I suppose it depends if he is used to taking milk out of a cup or bottle. My DS wasn't, so he would just wait for me instead.

As for preparing for it, I would try to prepare for it as little as possible. Try not to worry about it. Just enjoy the time you have and your baby will adapt well. Nursery staff are used to this, so they are quite good at getting babies to drink out of a cup/eat etc even when they aren't used to it.
