My nipple hurts, any ideas?

DC3 is now about 16 weeks old and exclusively bf. My nipple hurts . I have previously suffered with recurring blocked ducts on one side and was very full on that side for no apparent reason yesterday and this morning. Now my nipple hurts, just on one place near the end of it. No visible damage and it is pain in the actual nipple not soreness or deep breast pain. Is it possible to have a bleb that you can't actually see? What else could this be? DD did get her first tooth about 3 weeks ago, but isn't noticably scraping or biting.

could it be 'nipple blanching' - nipple goes white because bloos supply is reduced. info on kellymom.

She's also scraping/biting now too. Joy.

Thanks . It's nasty. One tiny thing hurts SO much. I think it's improving today, but time will tell I guess.

i've had blebs - it's amazing how something so tiny can be so excruciating,isn'tit? it's like a shock that goes right through me when ds latches on initially

i think i have one of these, so painful I kick my legs when dd latches on.. Is yours getting better>

It's starting to improve thanks. That side is still painful, but the white bit has gone now and there is a little tiny painful scabby bit that's healing gradually.

Alas, the other side has had a blocked duct now too, probably as a result of being a little neglected to try to keep the other side well drained . So now moderately sore on both sides instead of very on one.

Horrible, isn't it? Glad you're over the worst.

I've not had so many blockages or blebs since I started taking lecithin. Could be worth a try...

Yuck, I get these on one side all the time, have got one now that raised its ugly head this morning. OW!!!

blocked ducts are just gruesome aren't they. i get really squeamish about massaging the lump - it makes me feel a bit sick!

All gone now, thankfully :-)

I think it was attributable to a week of eating too much crappy food. Apparently saturated fat intake has an effect . Now eating properly again and feeling better on so many levels.
