Hi
I'm doing my best to try and increase my milk supply as I've had various latching on problems which have resulted in a low supply and ff top ups. I'm pleased to say that I haven't had to give a top up since Tuesday but have noticed in last couple of days that DD is more fussy/sucky especially in evening and at night (I know this may not be milk related!).
I've been taking Fenugreek for a couple of weeks and a La Leche councilor has recommended taking blessed thistle with it as it makes it more effective. When I've looked into it he evidence is very contradictory, it says great for milk supply, but not to be taken by bfing women !? So what's right and if it's ok what is the right dose and where the hell can I get it from!!!
Hope someone knows...

Here's my experience with milk thistle with all the usual caveats that I'm not medically qualified etc.

When I had some supply issues I got some milk thistle tablets from Zipvit. I took one tablet each day. It definitely increased my milk supply but not so much that I got engorged. Of course it could have been placebo effect but it made me feel better. I checked on kellymom before taking it.

I think it's the same. That's what I got anyway. Good luck.

I took Goat's Rue when bf but please go to a qualified and registered herbalist for advice.
