Only one boob working...

DS is coming up to 10 months. He was exclusively bf till 6 months and then BLWed. He eats well and is currently bfing 3 times a day, 1st thing, 11.30ish and bedtime. I am planning to breast feed him till he is one and will be gradually cutting out the feeds he is having over the next few months.

The problem that I have is that he's really only feeding from one side. Until pretty recently it was a pretty even mix of both my boobs, but I was always forgetting which side he was on last, so just gave both boobs a squeeze and put him on to the biggest side. Now I have suddenly realised that he is pretty much always going on my left boob. I used to pump from my right one every day, (to freeze) but am able to get less and less now. I always offer both boobs, but usually he doesn't want both.

So my question really is: should I be encouraging him to feed more on both sides, or given that he is only feeding 3 times a day, soon to be two, it is OK to just keep it to the one side? I don't want to try and start encouraging the right side, and then the left one to dry up.

Any advice would be very gratefully received.

Cheers...

it's fine to only feed from one side if you;'re happy doing that.
if you'd prefer to keep going on both sides then just try and encourage him to use that one too, even if he starts off on it and then switches to his preferred side

Thanks for that. I think for his first feed, I'll offer the crappy one first, and might just have to be a bit lob sided for a while.

Cheers...
