I am waiting an NCT call back but as so worried. DS2 is 10 days old. Breastfeeding has been going so well. He has gained 1/2lb since birth, lots of nappies, no cracked nipples etc. Introduced a dummy yesterday as he is so sucky.

Woke up this morning, boobs soft, he won't latch on properly and is making really loud gulping sounds, crying and pulling away!

Been terrible all day....

What has gone wrong

Please help!

Any joy yet mary poppins?
not an expert but sounds similar to fast letdown - see attached link and see what you reckon.

don't panic, nct will be super helpful i'm sure,

As bedlambeast said maybe he is overwhelmed by let down. I find my dd does not like it, she will suck then I feel the let down, this is followed by loud/frantic gulping as though she cannot keep up. She then comes off the breast agitated. My milk is flowing by this point so I keep a cloth handy to catch it, give it a minute and put dd back on - she is much happier then.

Have a look at the my post, 'urgent help re breast feeding' I phoned the first person that someone posted links too (really sorry forgotton your name) and got about an hours chat with an extremely nice breast feeding woman who sent me loads of useful links. You sound in a similar position to me - all going so well then suddenly tits up! I know its heart breaking. Do have a look at my thread and give one of those people a ring. Hurry up because a lot of the helplines are only available until evening. It's only a blip, we'll come out the other end breast feeding gurus!

I'm so sorry, only just realised you are already waiting a call. Hope they call soon x

Thanks so much everyone. NCT advise was good, feeding laying down is working well but DS is so windy, hicups etc, red faced etc, pulling legs up. Feel so bad for him
