Is it possible to breast feed once or twice a day or will my milk just dry up if I don't do it often enough?

i am not an expert but as i understand it, the more you feed the more milk is made

this is vital in the early weeks when baby needs feeding a lot to stimulate production

i would say if you only feed once a day at this point, yes your supply will dry up very quickly

is there a reason you want to mix feed or drop a lot of feeds?

the first few weeks of breastfeeding are incredibly intense and tiring

with my first child, DS, i mix fed from the start and by 7 weeks he was totally bottle fed and this is the point with DD, my second where i wanted to quit

however, we hung on in there and DD is now 20 weeks and still EBF

At 7 weeks I would think (unless you have supply issues) that your supply would probably stand up to having one or two feeds a day replaced by formula, but much more than that and you stand a very real risk of your supply diminishing to the point of having to formula feed full time. Obviously you might be fine with that, but it's worth knowing.

FWIW, I introduced a bottle a day with my DS at 10 weeks and my supply (which was far from abundant) was absolutely fine, but I did make sure to do all the growth spurts etc and not give in to the temptation to give more than one bottle.

i think if you are only breastfeeding once or twice a day at 7 weeks you will find yourself 100% FF pretty soon.
