Getting my child off the breast!

My son is just turning a year and i desperately want him off the breast. He still wakes uo 6-8 times a night for feeds, he is basically using me as a dummy. He refuses bottles, cups, beakers basically anything that isn't the breast. Noone will take him overnight as he craves breast milk,he won't even settle with his dad when im on a night out. I've tried to ween him off many times but gave in due to his tantrums and the sheer pain from my breasts, anyone any ideas?

Would you consider night-weaning only?
Are you finding day feeds a problem too?

I got to the point where i was sick of the night feeds. Try Dr Jay Gordon's night weaning I did it with DS when he was 14mo. Be warned, DS is very persistent and was still asking for a feed several months later. He accepts no with no fuss though. In fact he sleeps all night most nights now (20 mo).
Why not try night weaning before you give up completely? We're working on stopping altogether now. He won't like it but it's been easier on him doing it in stages.
Next to go is that early morning mammoth feed....
God luck

Meant to say, also good for weaning tips are the this and this from the Dr Sears website.
