I've read so much conflicting stuff on this. Some say 24h but I've seen something saying 5 days ?

What has your experience been ?

The latest info seems to be 8 days RB but I personally stick with a 48 hour rule. If its getting close to that I freeze it. Thats what I was advised when ds3 was in scbu and I've stuck with it even tho he's much tougher now!

Keep it in the main body of the fridge, not the door, however long you keep it (I've read 8 days too). Mears has posted a good link about this before, but I've searched in vain for it!

La Leche League info - 8 days. If you freeze bmilk - don't use a microwave to defrost it as some of the benefits are zapped.

If it goes 'off' does it smell funny ?

How can you tell if it's gone off so to speak ?

It does smell funny if its gone off. I have tasted mine as well but it always tastes funny to me even when fresh so hard to tell!

here is a link to the kellymom website which does say it can be kept in the fridges for up to 8 days.
