my ds is 11 weeks old and ex bf 5 or 6 times in day and sleeps mainly through night! My period returned yesterday and he was up and down all night and fed 3 times in night! Could my supply be drying up as he doesnt seem to be feeding for as long!!

HELP AM SO TIRED AND WEAK AND FEEL LIKE GIVING UP BF..... i know its only one really bad night but feel as if a cloud has descended and my post natal depression has returned with my period...... doc warned it would!!

COuld hormone changes with my period have changed the taste of consistency of my milk????

Sorry to hear about your PND, I hope you are being given enough support to help you through it.

The more regular feeding could be a growth spurt. I got my period back when DD was 9 weeks and she didn't seem put off so I don't think there would have been a change in taste. Here's some useful info on BF and periods- www.breastfeed-essentials.com/menstruation.html

For the tiredness you could try some iron supplements, someone on here suggested spatone to me and it's made the world of difference. Make sure you get a decent diet as well and that you get plenty of rest.

Please don't give up feeding, you sound like you're doing really well to me Have you got a baby cafe or anything like that nearby where you can go and get some face to face support?

thanks sweet...... that link answers a lot of my questions! Still feel low and as if bf is becoming a strain but i know if i give up my pnd will certainly come back as i will feel like i have failed! am so pleased to have been able to bf this time round as i didnt with dd.he does have a bottle of ebm every day so dp or grandma can give him a feed.
