Another question about expressed milk - How to heat it?

mama2moo · 26/02/2010 13:38

I have been expressing into storage bags and keeping it in the fridge. Dp will use it tonight to give dd a feed so I can get some sleep.

I have about 6 bags as to start with I was expressing at the wrong time and only getting a tiny amount. Now I am getting 2 ounzes!

So, should I put it into a bottle and put that in boiling water? Should you heat it whilst still in the bags before mixing?

Thanks

how warm is bm anyway? [div emoticon]

No need to warm it - just defrost (obv!).

Thats what I thought, it cant be that warm can it? I think I will put it in a bottle and heat it a bit with water.

It hasnt been frozen tiktok just in the fridge.

I find it easier to warm it in the bag in a bowl of warm water. I's quicker than warming the bottle and easier to tell when the milk is warm. I then pour it into the bottle (and check temp of course).

It's already defrosted? Then it doesn't need to be warmed, I promise you, unless you have a fussy baby who really doesn't like it cold.

jaggythistle · 26/02/2010 14:24

I do indeed have a fussy baby! He has been v grumpy when offered it cold before

mama2moo · 26/02/2010 14:36

I will try it cold and see what happens. If she doesnt like it I will warm it but it would be much easier to not need to! Thanks.
