Getting baby to take expressed bm from her dad...

DD is 6 weeks old and is exclusively BF. All this week I've been expressing milk in the mornings (about 4 oz) which we give to her in the evening.

The idea was that DH would give her the bottle so that fairly soon I will be able to pop out for an hour or two occasionally by myself to go for a swim or whatever.
DD will reluctantly take the bottle, but only from me!! Which totally defeats the point!

We've tried DH wearing a top that smells of me but that hasn't worked.

There's a day in mid-March when I really need to be able to leave her for 3 or 4 hours or so, but this won't be possible unless she will take the milk from someone other than me.

Has anyone else had this problem? Will she get used to this eventually?

Thanks for sharing any advice!

Have you been in the room when DH offers? Maybe he can try when you're out of sight for a bit?

Hi, yep we've tried that - the only way we've got her to take it is if I start off and then pass her over with the bottle mid-sucking... not an easy manouver!
Maybe we need to be more persistent? - once she's been crying for a while we give up and I I come in give the bottle to her...

I'd suggest just keep offering when she's in a good mood and try different bottles/teats as that might help. If your DH keeps offering when you're not there, that might work? So she gets used to the idea that your DH can feed her too.

Different bottles/teats is a great idea, thanks, will give that a go! She has taken a little bit from my Mum this evening so that's progress too! Thanks again!

My 10 week old won't even take EBM from me

Marking for tips

My DD never took a bottle. I went to work Mon-Fri from 8.30-12.30 and she just waited till I got back. She was hungry but did her no harm. It was only for 2 weeks though... Good luck, hope it works out better for you!
