Which teats/bottles for EBM for a 6mo old?

DS just turned six months and within the next month or so will be going off to nursery. I plan to send bottles of EBM and feed him at home from me as much as possible. We've also started BLW.

From about 3 weeks old I was giving him one bottle of EBM a day, always using the Medela bottle and teat that came with the Swing pump. Then as he needed more, I was using the teat and bottle collar from the Medela directly on an Axifeed 7oz collection bottle.

Now 7oz doesn't seem to be enough, so I tried getting a Tommee Tippee Nipper Gripper bottle so he could hold it himself. However, the wide neck teat seems to be a problem, he does a lot of coughing and spluttering, gets very irrtable and windy when we use it.

The Medela teat is standard size and I think medium flow, but was thinking we needed something else because he's always collapsing the teat with sucking so hard. Thus the Tommee Tippee but it doesn't seem to be right either!

So what do I need to get for him? Talk to me about fast vs slow flow, standard vs wide neck please!

I do have a cup for him but he really struggles with it, barely gets anything, and I'm not confident of getting him taking big feeds from a cup with only a month to go.

We have used the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature ones from the start, he takes EBM from his Dad once a week or so.

He is just over 5 months and I am going back to work soon so I hope he still likes them ok! (Dad will be at home feeding him EBM)

Anyway, he now grabs the 5oz bottle away and insists on holding it himself while sitting on Daddy's knee. I haven't tried with the larger 8oz bottle yet but it is a similar stumpy shape.

I am not sure if the TTCTN teat is similar to the Nipper Gripper one though?

He has always had the size 1 teat but he guzzles away fine anyway. I have got some next size teats but have never got round to trying them!

Sorry, I have no idea!

Except that orthodontists say no teats/dummies after a year old, so to avoid having to wean him off them, maybe just go straight to a cup with a spout? Or without a spout if he can manage it.

Don't get the 'magic no-spill' type cups - the suction they have to use is bad for their jaw development, I have been told!

Hello, I used Breast Flow from First Years as it seemed the softest teat and therefore closer to my boobs!
