Storing breast milk

Hv told me last week that you can now store breast milk in the fridge for 5 days.

I want to start expressing this week as 3 week old dd has been having a formula top up some nights that dp does for me. I do want to drop the formula and use breast milk though.

So, if I express and get an ounce or 2 can I then add the next days milk to it? Dd will take 4/5oz from a bottle!

Can you mix your milk like that?

kellymom is your friend.

In answer to your mixing question, the above link says: To avoid waste and for easier thawing & warming, store milk in 1-4 ounce portions. Date milk before storing. Milk from different pumping sessions/days may be combined in one container ? use the date of the first milk expressed.

You can mix milk, but it has to be the same temperature - don't mix freshly-expressed milk with some in the fridge, put it in the fridge as well, and when they're both cold you can combine them.
