What can I do about it? It's making me very nervous!! I've had a couple of hard nips today and she's only got two teeth at the bottom so far!

Teething? Mine bit me a few times when the top front two were coming through. Stopped happening once they were cut though. Very upsetting at the time though as I thought I'd have to stop BF.

When this started with my first, I quickly and really quite forcefully made him jump, removed latch using finger and pulled him away every time it happened. (be careful to release latch or it will hurt a lot). Then I would re latch and continue feed. He soon stopped doing it so often.

I know others who push babe into boob ie. cannot breathe. This puts them off too I believe.

Basically, I wanted him to feel shock and a bit out of sorts when he did it so he would link doing it to a not so nice feeling.

I am just experiencing this as well. One thing I have read somewhere which I have found to be true is that when the baby is sucking the tongue is over the lower jaw and therefore teeth. In order to bite they have to move the tongue back and move the jaw. Can't describe it very well but if you watch closely you may be able to see when she is preparing to bite. Hope that helps cos it bloody hurts!

I think you're onto something Casmama, she only bites at the end of a feed when she's had enough it seems. It's when she starts to get fidgety. Good call!!
