Medela Swing or Ameda Lactaline...?

Hi ladies,

I have read the reviews on MN but still can't decide...

There seems to be such a small amount of difference price-wise that I thought I'd see what other people's experiences were with both these pumps.

I had a manual (Avent Isis?) with DS1 and HATED it. It made my nipples mis-shapen and sore.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom??

Thanks
xxx

Hi newmomma, Medela Swing gets my vote, no sore or mis-shaped nips!,quiet, and reasonably quick from my experience. Plus at breastfeeding clinic I was told to buy one second hand from ebay as all the parts are able to be sterilised, around £25 on there or about £90 new.

Ameda, it's fab/quick and if you make yourself a pumping bra you can eat chocolate and watch tv do chores at the same time.

Lactaline - bought mine on ebay, used it 5 days a week for a year, then for another 6 months when I was away overnight for work, then sold it on in great working order. Could express 180ml or more in 15 minutes double pumping

Lactaline - love mine and you have the option of both sides if you like

Lactaline!!! By far!

Ameda lactaline saved my life/sanity (well it felt like that at the time). 100% vote for that.

I have a lactaline, bought it on ebay for £40. Excellent. I bung all the parts in the dishwasher, which you are probably not supposed to do, but it all comes up lovely.

I bought a lactaline last week and I just can't get on with it, and actually prefer my Avent Via handpump. I must be the only one! Mine is on ebay if you're interested.

Hi
I have the same decision to make newmomma.
Most people seem to prefer the ameda in reviews?
But also I saw that mothercare have an electric Tommy Tippee set (closer to nature electric breast pump). Only the manual TT version seems to be reviewed on Mumsnet. This TT one is a bit cheaper than the ameda and is a set - has anyone tried it?
