Does this sound like DS was hungry?

Hi all,
just after a bit of reassurance that I've done the right thing, my 3.5 week ds is already on 6oz bottles and have just upped them to 7oz - which he just gulped down.....
He's been draining 95% of his 6oz bottles for last week but been reluctant to up him to 7 as everyone seems suprised at how much he's eating already - midwife told us to up his feeds from 5 to 6oz when he'd not regained his birth weight 2 weeks ago then he gained a pound in 5 days so then another midwife said he was prob on too much be we prob couldn't reduce it now -confusing!!!. But he is actually having 5 rather than 6 feeds a day - 6am, 10/11am, 3pm, 7pm and 12.30/1am so was only 30oz per day.... Anyway in last 5 days or so but he does seem to have been waking up about an hour before each of his feeds are due and grizzling and being unsettled been thinking it was wind bothering but haven't actually been able to get any burps out of him so guessing not.....
So am I right to up his feeds? Does it sound like he's been hungry?? Worried about over feeding him - hate this trying to second guess him, makes me feel so cluless!

at that age my lo's only went 2 1/2 to 3 hours between feeds and only got to 4 hourly at 4 months. If your lo is grizzling earlier than the feed is 'due' then try feeding as he could well be hungry. Maybe he could take smaller amounts more often.

It could be reflux.

My ds was like this and I had to give up breastfeeding as he was just permanently latched on or crying.

I knew there was no way he could still be hungry, and he was gaining lots of weight, so I took him to GP and they prescribed infant Gaviscon and also a special milk, and he was a lot better.

Also, with colic and reflux, the more you feed them, the worse the problem gets. Once I had worked this out, I just had to persevere with the crying for a while and he then became much more settled.

Of course I could be could be completely wrong and he night just be hungry, but it does sound like he is getting more than enough milk.

Hope that helps .

At 3and half weeks both my children were feeding every 2 hours or so, so you might want to feed him a little less more often? Both my DDs were demand breast fed, I'm so glad I didn't have to work out how much or how often to feed them!
