Advice needed on bfing and returning to work

I will be going back to work (four days a week) in a fortnight, and plan to continue bfing my dd2 who is just one. With dd1 I cut down to just bfing morning and evening at this stage, and this worked fine. However this time around I am wondering about continuing to bf four times a day (as I do at present) on the three days I don't work, and just doing morning and evening on the four when I do. Has anyone tried this? I would like her to get the extra bm but am just a bit worried that it will confuse/upset her to get it some days but not others. Would welcome any advice - TIA

i would go for it, but take a breast pump to work and try and express at the time you would normally feed her, you can then put milk into a fridge (well wrapped!) and take home for use the next day... I did this with ds ten years ago and had no problems and will do with dd from next month when i go back... Used to take 5-10 mins and sit quietly in the toilet to do it no probs....

You may be ok with not pumping, from the POV of your supply, as your DD2 is one. I don't think she will be confused - she will understand that breast milk is available when you are around, and not available when you are not.

Thanks for responses. Issy - unfortunately expressing is not going to be possible - I just don't have the time at work (plus I'm rubbish at expressing). Notquite - that's reassuring - hopefully she will be having too much fun at the cm to worry about bfing!
