Can I go back to full bf, having given DD ebm for 2 feeds a day for a while?

sorry if this sounds confusing. DD 6mo is bf all day, right up to a final bf before her bath. she then has about 4 or 5oz of ebm from a bottle at bedtime, and a further 5 or 6oz dreamfeed when i go to bed. I then bf whenever she wakes, usually twice in the night.
But i am returning to work and DD will have to have 2 ff during the day, so I am keen for other feeds to be bf. can i just stop giving the ebm at bedtme and feed her instead? will my supply catch up? would you imagine she'd be unsettled at night (as she was before i started giving the ebm)

sorry, that was long!

oh, and i meant, can i go back to full bf for a while, and then introduce the formula when i need to?

why would she need formula during the day? You could express and give your child care the ebm to give, its what i did with ds when he was little and what i'll do with dd when i return to work....

From what i've heard and read your supply should catch up within days, women can re lactate after stopping completely as my friend did whilst her ds was in scbu....

good luck xx

If she's only been breastfed or having bottles of ebm, then surely your supply is there already? Just switch what time of day you give her the bottles? Maybe I'm being a bit simplistic.

no, you're not being simplistic! I'mn not explaining very well .
I won't be able to give ebm at all once back at work - i usually express in the mornings and afternoon and use ebm from the freezer to have enough for these feeds. however, when i am back at work, i wont be able to express at all, and i only have a few feeds worth in the freeezer.

do you express any milk after you give the night bottles?
I want my DD to keep up her 1 ebf on the evening so she doesn't forget when I need to go to work. But what I do is after giving her the bottle I express the same as she drinks for the next day. I think if you express after you feed her then this will encourage more milk to be made. This may mean u have less for the BF inthe night so u can try expressing after feeds in the day so your body thinks a baby is still demanding and so more will be made for the next day.
from the sounds of it u have been using previous expressed milk for the evening feeds but have not recently been expressing.

thanks fairy, i do express twice a day already but i only get 2 or 3 oz each time, not enough for the two feeds i give at the moment, hence using the frozen ebm. I wll not be able to express at all though once back at work so its formula when she's away from me.
Last night, i tried to replace the dream feed with a normal bf and she woke every hour and a half till 5ish so not sure if it's going to work, or if it was just a bad night.

still, she is 6mo today and i'll be proud of myself for getting this far!
