He's on solids but I was feeding him when he woke up, then once in the afternoon, and at bedtime. Today he turned away at both the afternoon and bedtime feeds. Wouldn't even latch on - sort of got close and then turned his head away.

He's teething but I touched the teeth (they've broken through the gums) with my fingers and he didn't flinch, so I don't have the impression his gums are sore. (And he hasn't been cranky or anything).

Anyone btdt? Am worried he's getting ill!

Thanks.

It is possible that he has decided that he is ready to wean himself. This does happen. At 11 months it would just about be possible to switch him straight over to cow's milk. Whether you're ready for that, or find another reason for it is another matter.

I agree with Ruth, my mum said me and my sisters all weaned ourselves at about that age, by just turning away and wanting a book instead. My dd is 10mo and has dropped all but 2 feeds. Sad that they're giving us up, but happy that they're growing up!

My ds did this recently. He is 11 months too. He had his morning feed no probs and refused his other feeds. I managed to feed him by putting him to bed, then lifting him out after he had 10-20 mins sleep then sort of dreamfeeding him. It lasted a couple of weeks and now he is back to 3 bf a day.
