How long does a bottle last once opened?

I'm sure this has been asked before so I am sorry if it has.

I have been given mixed responses from H/V and midwives to this question so v confused!
How long does a bottle of formula/ready mix milk last at room temp once baby has drank some of it? Sometimes my baby takes a long time to feed and I want to be sure I am being safe and the milk is not going bad.

In the hospital I was given ready mix and told that if I didn't warm it up it would last FOUR hours. I was told this repeatedly. Now that I am at home, I am not so sure as it says on the carton to dispose within two hours. I am following this rule at the moment for the ready mix but not so sure with formula made from powder which I do sometimes use.

My DH and I want to be sure we are not slowly poisoning our little one!

TIA

It used to be 1 hour for powdered formula but some packaging seems to say 2 hours now so anywhere between that should be ok. I think it changed to 2 hours when the new guidelines about making fresh feeds with water over 70 degrees were issued.
