Possible milk intolerance?

I could be worrying about nothing but I was hoping for some advice/reassurance .

DS2 is 3 1/2 mths old and ff (Aptamil). He is a very picky eater and still rarely takes more than 100ml at each feed (I think he should be on nearer 160ml by now, if not more) and consequently is on the 4th centile for weight (dropped from 9th centile at birth).

He screams for a feed, then takes a small amount and then loses interest. Some times comes back for more, but still only a small amount - I think I can count the number of times he has drained a bottle (120ml is the most we make up) on one hand since he was born.

He's fairly settled during the day - has daytime naps, very active and happy when awake - but is still feeding 2-3 times a night which is a bit killing!

Aside from his tiny appetite the thing that makes me wonder whether we need to change his feed is that he is pooing every nappy change - poos at every feed and often two or three times in between. I seem to spend my whole day changing dirty nappies! I know ff babies poo more than bf babies but is this normal? It's no wonder he's so tiny!

Sorry if all this is a bit daft - DS2 (19mths) was soooo different. Downed his milk in one go and tracked the 75th centile!

So do I need to see a GP? Is there anything to suggest a problem with his feed? Is the constant pooing ok?

TIA

aptamil contain prebiotics which may be causing the frequent pooing - you could try one without them added and see if it helps. Have you tried a faster teat to see if that helps him take more at each feed? I used the medium flow teats from around 8 weeks even though the packaging said they were for 3 months+.

Thanks Seona - that's helpful.

Is Aptamil the only one with these prebiotics?

We have tried the 3 month + plus teats but he hated them so we went back to 2s.

Thank you.

Anyone else with any experience of this?
