Breastfeeding and Fluoxetine

Sertraline is a nightmare.

I know that fluoxetine is good for me as an AD.

How bad is it with breastfeeding?

Thank you. Reading through that, it seems F is the least of the ideal of the ones that are ok (if that makes sense?), a bit more research seems to say that any bad levels of ssri's have been below 12 weeks, so, I think I may go and see the GP on weds (appt for 2 week check up after starting the sert) and see what she says.

I have been on half the dose she put me on, went back on full dose today and again had the full side effects. I've been having panic attacks for the last week which I wasn't having before the pills, and I just feel sort of detached all the time.

Dr Hale here

Lots of v good stuff about fluoxetine and bfing

I have taken fluoxetine 20mgs whilst bfing both of my children, DD was about 18mths and DS 6mths.

For the same reason as you panic attacks

In my experience only it has done no damage at all, I noticed no difference at all in the DC and the amount reaching the baby is v negligible.

Certainly my GP and community mental health nurse had no issues with it at all

I can't do it any more. Today has been one long panic attack. Part of the reason I am on them is to help with my marriage, and I have been hell all day.

I've still taken the half dose today but will drop to 1/4 etc and get changed on Weds.

Dr was lovely She said that it was whatever I was happiest with. We talked over the pros and cons, and I am now starting back on fluoxetine
