Breastfeeding DC3,

Hi

I couldnt get on with breastfeeding DS1, maybe because he was my 1st and i didnt really know what i was doing and there wasnt much support.

With DS2 i was so determined to try again. I perseveered and successfully breastfed for 8 months and i enjoyed every second of it.

Am expecting DC3 any day now and want to breastfeed again but am worried i might have the same problems i had with DS1.

Is this likley to happen or as i have managed to breastfed successfully before i wont have these probs?

Thanks

Firstly congratulations on your DC - and hope the birth of DC3 goes well. I think if you managed to BF no 2 hopefully you will be able to BF no 3 with no problems - though it is worth setting up a support network in case you do have issues. Find out where your local breastfeeding support groups are (your midwife/health visitor should be able to let you know) - they often welcome pregnant women before they give birth so worth going down there to ask any questions you want to. Also get the numbers for La Leche and other bf support lines so you can call someone if you have issues. Finally find out if there are bfing peer supporters in your area and sign up to have one come help you - I had one with DS1 and she was wonderful ( a mum who had had problems bfing her son and wanted to help others establish bfing).
