Weight loss and breastfeeding

I put on more weight than I expected while pregnant but am now almost back to my old weight. But there appears to have been some 'redistribution'. Which may also be because I have always done a lot of cycling and that isn't possible any more :-(

So I'd like to lose another 3 or 4 lbs to fit back into all my old clothes. I know I'm not eating excessively and don't really want to diet- particularly while still breast feeding. DD is now 8 months and I'm doing two feeds a day. I'll probably stop soonish but wondered how this might affect my weight. Anyone any advice? I've hear you need to keep a little extra weight until you stop.

Thanks

This webpage gives some good information about dieting and breastfeeding. You're better off exercising to lose weight, ime - why is cycling not possible any more? I've found biking with my kids to be a great way to get around, and get some exercise en route.

Thanks NQC. That webpage is useful. I guess I'm hoping I don't have to make any effort but that is probably silly. I'm a bit scared of taking DD on a bike. Although she is an adventurous wee soul and would probably love it. Maybe I'll have a look at bike seats. And infant helmets! Do they come in baby sizes?

Yeah you can get infant helmets, and baby bike seats are great. There are ones that are good from 6 months up.

If you've been off your bike since you had DD (or earlier) then you want to do a trial ride or two without her on, obviously.
