I've never asked you directly for advice but it's thanks to reading your posts here, both during my pregnancy and afterwards, that I've been very happily breastfeeding dd for 3 months now and do not plan to stop any time soon.

OP posts:
rubyslippers · 26/01/2010 13:46

another one saying thanks to TikTok, NQC and everyone else who has posted and helped me reach 16 weeks of feeding DD

we have had a rocky road but i have no doubts if it hasn't have been for threads i have started, added to, or lurked on i would have quit breastfeeding a long time ago

huge thanks from the bottom of my heart

posieparker · 26/01/2010 13:48

I join in too. It's really inspiring to read your posts that are always informative and unbiased. Very comforting to know when a post comes up about bf'ing there is someone who can answer without anecdote and truly help.

tiktok · 26/01/2010 13:52

and thanks to all

CrochetDiva · 26/01/2010 20:47

... and me ... still bf DD who is 2+ ... mostly down to your help with her horrific reflux in her early days

thankyou

OhFuck · 26/01/2010 20:51

Oh, hear hear. DS and I managed well over 2 years until he self-weaned so gradually that I didn't notice for weeks! Tough but so worth sticking it out, and helped so much by the generosity, wisdom and kindness of TikTok and others here.

I do wish there were a whole lot more TikToks out there working with new mums - it would make a big difference to a lot of women and babies.

Igglybuff · 26/01/2010 20:53

I will join in to also say thank you!

verylittlecarrot · 26/01/2010 23:57

Am indebted to this kind and patient stranger who I've never met. I TRUST her advice and she helped keep me sane when I was worrying myself sick about my tiny little slow gaining baby. who finally weaned during my pregnancy at the age of 2 and a bit.

And I will be pestering her all over again when number 2 arrives in a week or two as I have repressed all memories of feeding a newborn, and can't remeber what to do.

Heads up, tiktok, just a little shout out!

Wonderful lady. Thank you.

posieparker · 27/01/2010 07:55

methinks MNHQ would be wise to employ you as their bf advisor? Perhaps they could fund your research and book tiktok?

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 27/01/2010 08:21

Thank you for all your help and advice, both given directly and whilst I lurk! Ds bf to 12 mths thanks to everyone on this board, esp tiktok you wonderful lady!

I lose count of the number of struggling friends I send to mn to read this board after they hit the hv wall of no hope!!

Thank you!

tiktok · 27/01/2010 09:57

I am really touched by your comments.

I've learnt a lot by taking part in these boards, too - it enhances my practice as a breastfeeding counsellor and reminds me daily of the complex 'stuff' about infant feeding. I have paid work as well and I am keeping my privacy by not revealing what it is, but in some ways it helps with that, too.

I also do my best, with all you others, to help keep breastfeeding/bottle feeding threads informed and non-judgemental. Yes - unhappy and angry mothers may feel judged and criticised, even when they are not judged and criticised, and people like me get some of the flak...and of course there are people who sneer 'cos they are that sort of person, and people who truly believe it doesn't matter how babies are fed and think mothers who want to bf are making a fuss over nothing. Hey ho! When anyone does sound as if they are judging or criticising formula feeders then they get well-and-truly told not to do it

This means these boards are really good for genuine support - and yes, I am pleased to have played a part in that. But it's not just me - I've probably been an 'ever present', but others come and go and come back again and they deserve a pat on the back too.

tiktok · 27/01/2010 09:59

nice thought about MN funding me and a book, posie....I won't hold my breath!

funwithfondue · 27/01/2010 13:41

I'd buy the TikTok/Mumsnet guide to breastfeeding book, for me and for friends!

Thanks again TikTok from another lurker, I've taken on so much of your advice and after a very rocky start happily bf my dd to 12 months.

emskaboo · 27/01/2010 14:19

Another thank you from me and another vote for the mumsnet breastfeeding book as written by TikTok!

I've been endlessly impressed with the advice and support you offer and with the calm, clear and intelligent manner you deal with the flak.

hairtwiddler · 27/01/2010 14:33

yes, thank you tiktok from someone being helped right now! Thanks to everyone else on my thread too!

witchwithallthetrimmings · 27/01/2010 14:44

thanks from me too.

think a bf book would be the best as although "the womanly art of breastfeeding" is v. useful it is a bit preachy and has no humour
