Help - should I BF if I'm ill

Hi all

My LO is 6 weeks old and EBF. I've been up most of the night vomiting and with diarroah (sorry TMI) and I think I've got a temperature as I'm freezing!

Is it still ok to BF? I'm really scared of passing it on to him. I have done the 3am feed already. I've got a good few bags of expressed milk in the freezer which hubs could give him.

What do you think?

Hi there

Yes you can and should keep breastfeeding your baby - see kellymom

hope you feel better soon

oh and please try and drink something, so you don't get dehydrated - that is the main worry when you have D&V...

Most importantly is just keep washing your hands if you are poorly in hot soap water (and change your towels for new ones too) and yes, try and drink and take paracetamol as they are pretty good on the tummy ans will help the temp. Baby cannot get a bug from breastfeeding, more likely to be afforded some protection from your breastmilk. Poor you though, that's really horrible. Take care.

Thanks girls - much appreciated.

At the moment I can't keep any water down so I'm a bit scared about getting dehydrated.

Hubs is going to stay home today so I just need to feed and he can do the rest!

Thanks again.
