Hi,

DD2 has been taking an avent bottle of formula since she was 4 days old, now at 10 weeks she is flatly refusing it.

My eldest wouldn't bf at all I tortured by myself and tried for 12 weeks and expressed 6 times a day (even getting up at 2 a.m. when she was sleeping through).so I wasn't that bothered whether or not I managed to bf DD2 but she took to it so I went with it but made sure we gave her a bottle early on then at least one everyday since.

I'm told this is a common prob - and it's happened just as I'm thinking about weaning her off me and onto a bottle as to be honest bfing isn't entirly my thing. I've been given loads of conflicting advice, does anyone out there know anything that actually works?

Sorry feel completely trapped and dd1 is really playing up

if it helps i am in in same trap boat. including DD1 playing up ....i have progressed to her taking 2 oz without much bother but she flatly refuses anymore without lots and i mean lots of encouragement. DD2 is now 19 weeks and i have been trying a bottle a day give or take a few days for 4 weeks and only gotten this far. very demoralising. Emotionally I swing from well i don't mind devoting my time to her for these 'few' months to GET ME OUTTA HERE......

My main issue is getting her hungry enough; its really tricky because she is used to 2 hourly BF so trying to get her past 2.5 hours is nigh impossible (well not really willing to let her starve)......

sorry not really helping but i will say that i stopped trying lots of different teats (demolarising and expensive)and now stick with one, if they refuse a bottle they refuse not because they dont like the teat but (IMO)its more of a case of why have burgers when i can have steak IYSWIM good luck

thank you forevermore - it seems this was a slight blip and is now taking a bottle without too much fuss (furiously touching wood..) seems to get frustrated with the boob now so am planning on dropping one bf a week then stopping. Good luck
