BF 8mo - going away for 2 nights

DH and I are going away next weekend for 2 nights and my parents are babysitting. DS (8mo) is very comfortable with them so that's the first hurdle down.
At the moment he has 4 BFs a day plus one or two short snacky feeds which he usually isn't fussed about. He is on three meals a day plus some water at meals.
I am crap at expressing milk (never seem to get much out) so am planning on my mum giving him formula which I am going to try him on this week.
I am also planning on expressing 4 or 5 times a day whilst we are away to keep my supply up.
Basically I am worried - has anyone done this and how did baby cope? Also is my milk supply likely to diminish too much to be able to resume when I get back?
I'd be grateful for any advice - DH and I need the time away together but I am a bit anxious .. not to mention starting to feel guilty

What kind of pump have you tried?

I know i tried a electic 1 and disnt get on with it but found the tommee tippee manual one fab especially just after a bath!

does he have water out of a bottle? i he does at least you know there will be no prob with feeding formula.

It depends on how much you can express to how well your milk flow continues, they only re produce whats used i guess.

P.s enjoy and dnt feel guilty

I find expressing to be more successfull if you feed your baby at the same time.
Baby on one breast, expresser on the other.
The baby's feeding action is far superior at stimulating your letdown than the pump alone.
Also, get your parents to offer the breast milk in the same container as he drinks his water from.
It's likely he may not take the milk at all or very little, don't panic, tell your parents not to panic, as long as he eats his solids and drinks his water he will be fine for 2 days.
Don't be surprised if he feeds like crazy when you get back, allow him to.
As for your supply, expressing a hand full of times over the 2 days will be sufficient to maintain your supply, you're not going to be gone for long.
Don't worry about expressing in the night unless you feel physically uncomfortable, at this stage it's not neccessary.
Now enjoy yourself and don't forget your contraception.
