How to move from EBF to mixed feeding - going back to work...

My DS is 15 weeks old . I EBF'd him until a month ago when we introduced a FF at 10.30pm ish (to let me sleep more than an hour at a time!)

We've struggled to get him to take more than 2oz at that feed. Not too worried about that at the moment but concerned that my body hasn't realised what's going on even after 4 weeks and I've been in so much pain I've been expressing a small amount at about 1-1.30am so I can sleep until the next feed. In fact, I think some nights I've been feeding DS at 2am more for me than him!

I'm returning to work in May and hope by then to have DS taking a bottle for all except first and last feeds of the day. Any advice how to go about this - which feed/s to drop next? How long will it take my stupid body to match up with the FF? Really don't want to stop any earlier than necessary but can't face the thought of engorgement, pain and needing to express at work...

Sounds painful! I EBF'd until DD was 8 weeks, then introduced a bottle at 11pm. Luckily she took this quite well (4oz) straight away. My breasts seem to have adjusted too, but were very painful and like rocks for a couple of days. I wasn't feeding as ofen as you are though, so maybe that's why you are in such pain?
I have since introduced a bottle at 11am and one at 3pm and now b/f at other times during the day and through the night. Breasts seem to have adjusted (do leak occasionally though)
My problem now is that she has started refusing my breastmilk. Not sure if it's nipple confusion, thrush or teething.[sigh]

Thanks for that.
Sounds like I need to just persevere then, and keep wearing the breast pads!

Maybe I'll try a lunchtime feed next then. Any advice to get DS to take bottle from me? He's getting better taking it from DH but not me yet...
