Hi, can anyone give me advice on getting my 6 month old to take a bottle. Up until now he has been BF exclusivly (apart from solids)and has been gaining weight perfectly from day one. For a number of reasons I now want to start him on formular but am having great difficulty getting him to take the bottle, he rejects everything and then i just give him and give him boob which he obviously loves.

Is there anyone who can give me tips on helping him take a bottle?

Thanks

Oh I'm so glad to hear it's not just me, my 7 month old will not take a bottle,or formula in any form and in my heart of hearts I know I ought to make her go cold turkey if I really want to stop, but just can't bring myself to do it, there's always an excuse... but I'm really ready to stop now, and don;t want to still be doing this in another 6 months time, which I can see happening...NY resolution #30 toughen up!

Hi Jacob17, everytime my DS wanted milk i made up a few oz of formula but he would always refuse, It was only the night feed he seemed to give in with, this however was expressed breast milk but from then on he seems to have taken formula with no problems at all. If cold turkey is the was forward for you ladies i really hope it works for you like it did me. My DS still sometimes looks for my boob especialy when putting him sleep but im sure that will pass in time and he will one day never remember that these funny looking things on mummy's chest used to feed him!!! good luck
