14 Weeker Refusing BF

14 week old DS2 has today refused to BF and I'm beginning to worry.

Had a little trouble last Wed/Thurs with engorgement in left breast which made BF EXTREMELY painful. Got through it with lots of feeding but sought medical advice on Thurs when I developed a bit of a fever. Was prescribed Flucloxacillin just in case it was turning into mastitis.

Feeding is still painful but not nearly as bad as last week.

DS2 refused to feed earlier today so I gave him the EBM I expressed while he was asleep (v hard going, managed to get 1.5 fl oz in an hour, but not even attempted to express before today).

After a long sleep he had a short feed from right breast but refuses to feed any more and goes ballistic if I put him anywhere near the breast, screams until he is exhausted then goes to sleep.

Could the anti-biotics have an effect on the taste of the milk or possibly the volume?

What should I do now? Hardly fed today, should I express some more?

Shameless bump. Getting desparate.

No advice to give you but didn't want your post to go unanswered.
Hopefully tiktok will be along soon as she'll know what to do.
You could try phoning the NCT bf line on 0300 300 0771 and ask them for advice, I've found them excellent. They're open until 10pm.

Thank you scarlotti, NCT were v helpful with lots of suggestions and managed to get DS to feed (somehow) and he fed OK through the night. Phew!
