Mixed feeding at 13 weeks?

It turns out 13 week old DD will take a bottle of formula, DS never did so I assumed it would not work but it does - I am slightly pleased and slightly sad about this.

I would like to keep bf DD until she is at least a year old so don't want to mess up my supply but also would like to be able to go out without her in the evening sometimes.

What do you reckon, would one bottle of formula a week be enough to keep up her ability to drink it? Really don't want to give a bottle feed every day.

Thanks in advance for any experiences and advice!

I bf and ff my ds, just one bottle a day to give me a rest, and this was fine for us,and came in handy as i could have a bath in piece or if we used the bottle on a night it ment dh could do the night feed and i could sleep!

It's worked for me too, but of course everyone's different. How about expressing a bottle a day if you don't want to give FF every day?

I would rather bf than express and don't find expressing that easy, if I go out for an evening I am unlikely to be able to express enough for all her feeds + the ones that are false alarms, that's why I would like her to be able to take formula.

I wouldn't hold on to the fact that DS didn't take to formula, just assume that DD is now fine with it and enjoy some evenings out.

It wont be too long until she is eating solids and then this wont be much of an issue.

I understand where you are coming from though, there is nothing worse than being a couple of hours into a night out with DH only to get a phone call because DD is hungry

Hi.

I BF my DD for a year and after about 12 weeks I started her on a bottle of formula at bedtime, to get her used to the bottle and formula and also so I could have a rest. She was fine and took to it really well but I had expressed beforehand also.

HIJACK I am desperate for DD2 to be on 1 bottle a day so I can get time away. I know I am more likely to BF for longer if i have this option than if I don't. After 17 weeks starting to feel trapped. Been trying for a few weeks with very small amount of progress. So far she has taken 3-4oz at 10 am (for 3 consecutive mornings) following 7 am BF; then BF at 12:30ish and then for rest of the day and night 2/3 hourly. Is his ok to not affect supply. I am hoping to build up to her taking a full 6 oz FF once a day in the evening. Previously the evenings she has only taken 1oz which is why i started to try mornings and I am getting slightly better results (but with a little battle after 1oz).

Any tips to increase volume welcome. Also should supply be ok as I had been Exclusively BF and she only had first sip of formula at 13 weeks and never more than a couple of oz's/day since???.
