Shooting pains on let down - help!

DS2 is 6 wks tomorrow and exclusively bf. It's been going really well, no latch issues etc.
For the last day or two I've had shooting pains in my breast at let down - it seems to be worse at night. The pains are down the side of my breast and seem to increase when he feeds. He sucks very hard and my let down is quite fast.

Anyone got any idea what this might be?

Well, my letdown has a definite, quite intense sensation - sort of painful. How bad is it? Can you live with it?

Mine too, this is extra pain though. LIke sharp shooting pains. I'll live with it as I won't stop bf but wondered if it was a blocked duct or something?

I had this and it turned out to be thrush - might be worth a look at this www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/thrush-and-breastfeeding.html

Me too - felt like a complete idiot after the thrush was treated and I found out that let down is a pulling rather than stabbing sensation.

Yes shooting pain is usually thrush. You need to be treated and baby. It won't just go away so the sooner you get treatment the better. Have you or the baby been on anti biotics?

Thanks for the info, will get it checked out. Funnily enough it seems to have gone today? Engorged breasts instead now
