Was speaking to a friend about baby milk. She asked if I used follow on formula when my kids hit one. The answer was no, I just put them on cows milk. Dunno why, so am interested, does/did anyone use follow on formula, stage 2 or 3 etc... or did you just switch to cows milk?

Cows milk and kept breastfeeding too. think the rest is a scam - stupid advert with the huge cup ignores the fact they're eating Other Food Too...

yes habbibu, I just saw that advert, which made me remember this conversation. Another factor for me is that we had milk tokens at this stage with ds, and they are valid for formula after 12 months...

I gave my DD follow-on milk from about a year because her eating was erratic that I wanted to be certain that she was getting all the nutrients, etc, that she needed. There's no iron in cow's milk and DD wasn't keen on meat however mushed up it was!

nope. just kept on breastfeeding til about 18months ish (they had water and diluted juice too). then they had water. did try them on cows milk but neither of them would touch it!

Sorry, meant her eating was so erratic...

Gleefully went from formula to cows milk as soon as 12 months were up. (My boobs gave up after 8 weeks due to a combination of polycystic ovaries and thyroid problems- how I wish I could have kept BF, dunno why anyone would think bottles were easier, messing around in the middle of the night, endless washing and sterilising, hated it! Though I was lucky enough not to have any pain with nipples, problems with latch etc. and I can see that would make BF horrendous). But DS was eating well by then. I did the switch gradually though, adding a bit more cow's milk to the formula each day for about a week.
