Real breastfeeding cafes

On a slightly more positive note than 'thrown out of Harrods' could anyone recommend good places to breastfeed in central London?

Short stuff and I would like to get a bit more mobile, but since we are still quite new to the breastfeeding game, we'd like our first public feeding experiments to be somewhere nice and comfortable (and preferably avoid the mayhem of Oxford St, which rules out Mamas and Papas and Mothercare). Any suggestions?

I always found fortnum and masons to be fab and they never batted an eyelid when I fed there......

natural history museum cafe is good also, so far, any starbucks or MandS cafe is fine

We fed quite happily in cafes at the museum of childhood, science museum and natural history museum, and DS is nearly 2 (These places are all too exciting and need sleep-inducing assistance )

last year's thread on this

Personally I always head for the nearest Starberks, as they often have baby-changing and sofas.

Central-London-but-not-Oxford-Street is a big place, was there somewhere particular you wanted to go?

Thanks for the suggestions so far. May have to overcome my Starbucks aversion (don't like the coffee - Fortnum's is perhaps more my style). Today I am headed for the City, but am interested in other places, for future reference. Kings Rd? Soho? South Bank? Will look at this other thread.

Selfridges is a top tip (from the other thread). I know it is Oxford St, but will make an exception for the sake of my wardrobe.

Peter Jones on kings road/sloane square has a parent and baby room with breasfeeding chairs, and seen plenty also feeding in their cafe on the comfier chairs!

City- I'v always gone to a coffee chain but not at lunchtime when they are all rammed with suits. If you don't like Starberks try Costa or Caffe Nero or similar.
Kings Road- Peter Jones, as princess says
Soho- drop down to the National Gallery. V. bf friendly now since they hit the headlines a few years back for chucking someone out for it. Now bend over backwards to welcome you.
South Bank- Tate Modern cafe or one of the sofas overlooking the Main Hall. Or just go in the South Bank centre itself and go upstairs to the first floor where it is quieter.

HTH.

i usually head for Costa Coffee/Cafe Nero type places because they usually have armchairs, and i've never had anyone say anything. the actively positive places tend to be in the more baby-centric suburbs (like Queens Park/Wandsworth Common/Putney etc). i've actually had a staff member bring me a cushion and offer me a glass of water in a couple of places, which was lovely. good luck on your outings and if anyone gives you a hard time, tell them to get stuffed
