Can BFing make your cycle longer?

Hi

Have a 10 month old DD who is still having a morning and evening breastfeed (though evening one very quick now). Was thinking about stopping BFing when she is around 1 year old, and a few months later will start trying for bump no.2.

Am bit concerned as used to have predictable 28 day cycle but at moment it is around 55 days!? Has anyone had a similar experience? If so, and you have stopped BFing did your periods go back to normal cycle pretty swiftly? If it takes a while I would consider finish BFing a bit earlier. Just want to maximise my chance of getting preggers again as am no spring chicken.

Thanks!
