I sniffed some the other day, I had only expressed it the day before and it smelt AWFUL, you could almost describe it as smelling like vomit!

Is this normal?

I'm wondering if there's something wrong with our fridge and its not cold enough.

What temperature is your fridge? I think it should be around 3c. Is your fridge freezing liquids a little? Maybe you could smell lipase?(sp?)

HeinzSight · 07/12/2009 15:03

the reading on a little thermometer I have dangling in the frige says 12 degrees! But the digital display on the front of the fridge says 2

I've got it on an extended warranty plan so will call them.,

What does lipase smell like?

taste a little bit, might be off? I remember expressing and it was off the next day... bloody waste of time and effort that was!!!

Some people say lipase tastes and smells like vomit.

I think I have high lipase in my EBM and it tasted of soap. I only tried a sip and it made me vomit.

There are tips on KellyMom on how to deal with it although I never bothered and stopped expressing.

I've booked for an engineer to come and look at my fridge on Friday. I'm hoping it's that.

Hi Heinz, just to add your baby won't drink it if it's off so don't worry about that.

I did realise my fridge wasn't cold enough when my milk did the same after a day. Make sure it's right at the back of the fridge.

HeinzSight · 11/12/2009 11:52

Oh that's interesting and reassuring Picante. My DD2 quite happily will drink it, so does that mean I can carry on giving her EBM?

I reckon so!!
