Baby is 8 days old. I'm worried he will catch something thru me. Will he? Sure it's not a serious thing have had one dose and feel better with it but worried.

Help

I'm no expert - but don't think he will catch anything from the breastmilk. Just making sure you wash your hands well before feeding/handling him.

In the event he did get anything breastmilk will be the best thing for him, and pretty sure any risk will be more than outweighed by benefits of feeding.

Congratulations on your new baby. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids and look after yourself (as much as possible) as a new baby is tiring enough as it is.

Keep on feeding, much better that baby gets your antibodies.

See this link to la leche website if you want to check it out.

Are you still being seen by a midwife, you should tell them you have diarrhea in case you have an infection.

Hope you feel better soon

Withdraw solid food from your diet and only have clear fluids for twelve hours to give your stomach a chance to rest and get over it. Keep on breastfeeding. Rest as much as you can. Keep your hands clean and don't worry too much, it happens. I've gone through entire D&V illnesses while breastfeeding both my DCs and they've not caught anything. DD even continued to suckle while I sat on the loo, making large splatting sounds and vomiting into the sink
