... and she's only put on 300g in 22 days

She's dropped from the 70th centile down to the 40th.

She's been v unsettled and not wanting to feed much in the evenings, but has been feeding like mad in the night, so I thought she would have gained loads.

I took her to the docs to have her ears checked and she has an ear infection. This will be the second time she's been on antibiotics

She's 15 weeks old.

Her poor older sister has been riddled wiht ear infections too, she's going to the ENT tomorrow.

Please reassure me this isn't horrendous etc etc.

I SOOOO don't want to supplement her with formula.

I would have been greatly reassured if I was told not to pay too much attention to the following of a centile line, unfortunately the advice given to me by the hv team was that a baby 'picks' a centile line then follows it.

Hence my panic.

Once again, thank God for Mumsnet!!! and tiktok!!

Both my DSs put on no weight at all between 2 and 4 weeks, despite both feeding furiously.

DS2 in particular had all sorts of niggly infections (chest, throat, nipple - yes nipple!) and went from the 75th centile, down to below the 25th before bobbing back up to the 50th, where he's bobbled about ever since. His chart looks like a heart monitor at the start!

I second everybody else, you are doing a fine job and don't stress.

I think the problem with the charts is that we are used to line graphs that move in a lovely line - so much so that those lines are already drawn in . Maybe health visitors right at the beginning should say - right, he's on this line (50th maybe), so for the next month or so we would like him to stay above this one (20th or whatever it should be). That way we wouldn't get it into our heads at the beginning that he has line to stick to.

The BF charts will be replacing the formula charts in the red books asap. Not sure of the exact dates but it's in progress at the moment. Have seen the new charts and they look excellent and much more relevant
