Blister on top lip..?

DS is ten days old and am breast feeding. The past few feeds he seems to have had issues latching on and has been using his chin more - although when the midwife observed a feed a few days ago to help out she said I had the latching right. Have just noticed he appears to have a blister or alsur (sp? sorry!) or something on his top lip. Midiwfe is coming tomorrow so will mention it to her then, but any advice in the meantime?

He does suck his fingers, is it possible this could be causing it?

TIA.

Don't worry, have had this with all mine, think it must be due to constant feeding! I'm sure he's fine.

My dd had this constantly.

I have no idea what caused it, but it came and went frequently and didn't cause her any pain or discomfort. It gradually stopped

It's really normal It will probably disappear and come back and disappear again - don't worry.

It's a nursing blister caused by his sucking at the breast. It's perfectly normal. Don't worry.

dd1 had this for ages when tiny as others have said it would heal & then come back again & is perfectly normal

Congratulations on the birth of your DS too

That's standard in bf babies and nothing to worry about -- I've never seen a young ebf baby who doesn't have one (although I'm sure they exist)
