Keep on feeding, there is no reason to stop unless you want to.

My Dd was 2.5 yrs when i stopped feeding her & I was 5 months pregnant. I only stopped because she wasn't interested anymore. I will say that for a little while it was a bit tender to feed due to hormonal tender boobs.

I have lots of friends who have continued feeding through pregnancy & some to tandem feed too.

Good luck & congratulations if you are pregnant (sounds like you are!!)

I continued bf ds1 whilst pregnant and then tandem fed for 2 months when ds1 self weaned at 17months old. It was quite tender/sore at some points, esp at the begining of pregnancy and towards the end but very do-able. It did make feeding new born much much easier! Ds2 didn't lose any weight and had yellow poos by day 2!! Put it down to having such a good supply due to ds1 still feeding

It's fine to breastfeed while pregnant but some babies do self-wean at this time because the milk can begin to taste different. (My friend's DS was 11mo when she got PG again and he self-weaned, we think that was why) I think this is quite rare under a year though, especially at only 6 months, though I may be wrong.

Congratulations

I have done this. Am currently feeding 3.9 yr old dd, 13 month old ds, and am 8 or 9 weeks pregnant with number 3. If you don't want to stop then just carry on - your milk supply will get less during 2nd and 3rd trimesters, but keep putting baby to breast to keep things going. Establishing feeding with ds was very easy because I was already feeding dd.

DS weaned when I was 4 months pg, but he was nearly 2 yrs and had only been having 1-2 feeds a day. My breasts were a bit sore at first but nothing too bad.

CSWS - are you pg?! CONGRATUBABYLATIONS!

Sorry for hijack OP!

I force weaned my ds when I was pg which with hindsight was a big mistake. He asked to start nursing after dd was born and now I tandem nurse, but I think if I'd just nursed through pregnancy he probably would've self weaned by now. He was older though, I think if your youngest is only 6 months it's going to be much easier to carry on nursing, certainly a few people I know who've done this have felt it was the right decision.

Thanks ladies .

Yes, on the painful latch thing, I did find it agonising for the first few weeks at least, and then fairly uncomfortable throughout the pregnancy, but this time I am not finding it painful at all yet, thank goodness!
