Really upset and a bit worried: 9mo DS suddenly refusing to BF

As it says in the heading really.

A couple of days ago he'd only feed morning and night, then only in the morning. Now not at all.

He either bites me (hard), blows raspberries on me, or just lies there refusing to do anything.

I know it' not lack of milk cos O'm having to express to ease fullness (which I haven't felt for months).

A couple of times I've 'tricked' him into feeding by taking bottle away and giving breast

He is at nursery 3 days a week when he has bottle during the day. Also DH gives him bottle for one wake up (sometimes 2) at night. But he WAS happily BF at all other times....

Feel really sad and a bit worried. Is this a 'strike' or is it the end?
Am I giving him too much formula? (when he won't BF I panic and give him a bottle)

any help much much appreciated!!!!

This happened at 9 mo with my ds2, for us it was the end of BFing, but I felt it was the right time if he was happy. A friend of mine with dd same age persevered through a few weeks of rejection and carried on BFing for another 9 months.

So it will pass, it doesn't have to be the end if you don't want it to be. They often just get distracted at this age. Try reducing external stimulation (go somewhere quiet) and keep offering.

Thanks
That's really encouraging that someone else managed to keep it going after something like this.
If he really wants to stop, of course I won't force him to breastfeed, but I'd really like to keep going if possible.

Only problem is, it happens even when it's quiet with no distraction.... oh well maybe it's just one of those phases....

thanks for getting back to me, anyway

....he's bfed twice today!

Tried not to force the issue, just kept offering boobs... then as suddenly as he stopped, he just started feeding again!

Thanks for the encouraging words. I was really really gutted.
