Hi

DS2 is now 6 days old. When we were in the hospital he was put on formula top ups from a cup as his blood sugars were low - he was 9lb 8oz at birth.

I've been home now for 3 days and stopped topping up a few days ago. For the last two days he has started cluster feeding - I've had 2 nights of constant feeding, with a gap of about half an hour if I'm lucky. In the end I gave formula after about 6 hours just so I could get some sleep.
Last night I fed lying down as that seemed to help me get some rest whilst feeding.

Evenings also seem to be cluster feeding time, not a problem as am happy to sit on the sofa and just feed.

My milk still doesn't feel like it's come in yet either - would have expected that by now surely??

I have 2 other DC's so need to know tips to get through this and still be able to function for the rest of my family. DH has one week of paternity leave left then it will be just me during the week.

Any help or advice gratefully received as we're like zombies and my nipples feel like they might fall off soon!

Constant feeding is typical newborn behaviour I'm afraid.
Any reason you do not think your milk has come in? Are you hearing lots of sucks and swallows from your son and is he getting plenty of wet and dirty nappies.

All the constant feeding will also be helping to boost your supply.

Have you tried putting him in a sling as he might also be wanting to be close to you. It might allow you some hands free time with your other 2 children.

It does get better

Thanks, have had a few hours off today so things have settled a little!
Sling is a good idea, I have got one.

Boobs just seem to flat for milk and flow is v slow, but I think it's only a matter of time. nappies are frequent though so think he's getting enough.
