Dc2 due in January. I ff dd because I hated the idea of bf.

This time I really want to give it go. However, I hate the idea of midwives 'helping' and anyone watching me do it.

Are there any good books out there that show you how to it? Or is it best just to wait and see?

Hiya, if you can get to a local breast feeding group or cafe, you'll get loads of free information.
Or if you tube has some good videos to watch.
I really think preperation is the key to success, I found it hard with my first 2 and only managed a couple of months, then with my third went to a group when pregnant and it all made much more sense,
I'm now breast feeding twins who are 4 and half months and it really is soooo much easier than bottles and I get to eat lots of cake

You might feel weird about it initially but give it a go & try to let the midwives help too, after all they will have just spent hours looking up your lady bits so is a boob so bad?
Largeglassored is right there is loads of good info/demos on u tube & the bf groups will often lend out books too.
Good luck & enjoy the cake!

Best of luck with it, I dreaded it second time around after a difficult first time, but it was fine and actually really enjoyable. Sounds like you're keen so that's a good start?

Book wise, try Breast is Best Oldie, but a goody.

Thanks all, I forget that they spend hours 'down there'!!!

I have a tour of our local maternity hospital tomorrow so will ask about breast feeding groups then.

'Womanly Art of Breastfeeding' by La Leche League is good. And there are sections on handling BF a NB with older children around too.

Favourite of mine is The Food of Love by Kate Evans.

Really beautifully illustrated, very informative, and easy to read without being dumbed down at all.

Good luck

If you are a fan of Ina May Gaskin she has a new book about breastfeeding www.amazon.co.uk/Ina-Mays-Guide-Breastfeeding-Gaskin/dp/190517733X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=12 58213088&sr=8-2

I haven't read it but found her other books helpful and inspirational.
