BF help - baby pulling nips

I've posted this already in parenting so sorrry if you've already replied (thanks so far!!). I'm a new mum to a 3 wk baby boy and have been BFing. Recently he has started pulling on me at the end of a feed which hurts. However I take him off, switch sides and he starts again then pulls after a bit. I don't know if he's hungry or windy and now lack confidence in knowing what he wants. I'm seeing a BF counsellor on monday but wondered if anyonehad similar experiences.
My original post is here - sorryin advance for confusion of having two threads www.mumsnet.com/Talk/parenting/848808-Breastfeeding-help-new-mum

My DS is 8 weeks old and does this too! Taking him off for a few minutes and thoroughly winding him seems to help. I wouldn't switch sides unless you're sure you've drained the 1st side.

I'll try that at the next feed. It's just having the confidence to think it'll work
