yes - it would be sterilised after all

ChasingSquirrels · 14/10/2009 20:45

yes, and did

Fruitbatlings · 14/10/2009 20:45

yes. you can sterilse it szo it's as good as new. Far cheaper than buying brand new

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 14/10/2009 20:47

That is what i am thinking fruit. Did not successfully express last time, but used a manual one.

Think electric will be a better success but don't want to spend a fortune in case it does make a difference.

in case it doesn't make a difference

yes, and I do... a Medela electric one in fact and its pretty good. Hope it works out for you

jelliebelly · 14/10/2009 20:49

Yes - why wouldn't you?

CMOTdibbler · 14/10/2009 20:50

The Lactaline is a good one to buy second hand as the milk is totally separated from the motor part, so all contact parts can be well sterilised.

I bought my trusty Lactaline on ebay, and it was fantastic

Heated · 14/10/2009 20:51

Would have no problems with this, since they're sterilised. Any used whilst in hospital would be "2nd hand" and my mw lent me a couple to try out before buying my own.

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 14/10/2009 20:51

Yep - both mine were 2nd hand!

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 14/10/2009 20:53

I did, very happily (thanks spicemonster! )

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 14/10/2009 20:54

Yes, I did (a manual one).

Yes, I did. I thought the idea was horrible before DS arrived (especilly as a colleague from work gave me mine!) but after using the hospital ones for 2 weeks was reassured; everything is sterilised hundreds of times afterall.

Misspaella · 14/10/2009 20:56

Yup! My electric medela broke so bought Lactaline off ebay. Best buy ever.

FrightNightFebes · 14/10/2009 21:04

I got an advent isis on ebay for a fiver it is great.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 14/10/2009 21:06

I used a hospital pump when DS was in Children's Hospital.

hugmeandcatchthelurgi · 14/10/2009 21:07

Yes i did.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 14/10/2009 21:08

Well yes kerry you see I think I was once there. BUT...i also thought as several have said, that when in hospital i used one there and did not think twice about it being used before me, and I have changed my view. I think. I say I think. That is the reason for my post. To help me think whether I have or not.

But now I am confused about what to get...i had considered the Medela mini electric pump, i had made my mind up. But now I am not so sure

I used a boot electric and didn't get on with it at all and then tried the advent isis manual pump which is great- I think it was reccommended on MN

pooexplosions · 14/10/2009 21:14

a breast pump can't carry diseases though

I would, and did. A friend donated me hers after I lost part of mine. And I uses a hospital one too, which presumably was used by hundreds before me?

ilovemydogandmrobama · 14/10/2009 21:15

Cooties are sooo 3rd grade...

Not sure though what diseases one can get via a pump?
